Bitget is a large centralised crypto exchange best known for derivatives (futures) trading and copy trading. This review covers what it offers, what it costs, how it approaches safety, and who it's a good or poor fit for. We link to Bitget's official pages throughout so you can check every fact yourself, because fees and features change.

What Bitget is

Bitget offers spot trading, USDT- and coin-margined futures, copy trading, trading bots, and earn products. Its native token is BGB, which can be used for fee discounts. It is not available everywhere: like most offshore exchanges, it restricts users in a number of jurisdictions, and availability can change as regulation changes. Check Bitget's terms of use and your local law before signing up.

Fees

According to Bitget's official fee page (checked October 2026), the entry-level spot rate is 0.1% maker / 0.1% taker, reduced by 20% (to 0.08% / 0.08%) when you pay fees with BGB. Rates fall at higher VIP levels, which are based on 30-day trading volume or asset/BGB balances. The page also notes that some coins may have different rates during specific periods and that rates may vary by region, so your transaction history is the final word.

Futures fees are listed separately on the same fee centre. Remember that futures add other costs: funding payments between long and short holders every few hours, and potentially liquidation fees.

The page also sets a 24-hour withdrawal limit by VIP level, and notes that users who haven't completed identity verification are limited to 20,000 USDT in 24-hour withdrawals.

Copy trading

Copy trading is Bitget's signature feature. You pick an "elite trader" profile, allocate funds, and your account mirrors their trades proportionally. Profiles show historical returns, drawdowns, number of followers and trading style. Traders typically earn a profit share from followers.

Be realistic about it:

We cover how to pick traders and the common mistakes in our copy trading guide.

Futures

Bitget offers perpetual futures with leverage. Leverage is the fastest way most retail traders lose money: a small move against a highly leveraged position can liquidate it entirely. If you're new, learn spot trading first, use low or no leverage, always set a stop-loss, and never trade futures with money you can't afford to lose.

Safety: proof of reserves and the protection fund

Bitget says it publishes monthly Merkle tree proof along with platform reserves and its reserve ratio on its proof of reserves page, and users can verify their own balance is included. It also operates a Protection Fund; per Bitget, users whose accounts are compromised or assets lost "due to platform-wide events not attributable to their own actions" may make a claim, and Bitget reserves the right to assess each claim.

Our take: these are useful transparency signals, but neither is insurance in the traditional sense, and neither replaces basic hygiene. Enable 2FA (an authenticator app, not SMS), set an anti-phishing code, use withdrawal address whitelisting, and keep long-term holdings in your own wallet.

KYC (identity verification)

Bitget requires identity verification for full access, including higher withdrawal limits and fiat features. Expect to provide a government ID and a selfie or liveness check. For expats, use the ID that matches your country of residence on the account and be consistent: mismatches are a common cause of delays.

User experience

The app and website are feature-dense. Experienced traders will find most tools they expect; beginners may find the number of products overwhelming. Stick to the spot section until you're comfortable, and turn on the simpler view if the app offers it.

Who Bitget is for

How to get started safely

  1. Confirm Bitget is available in your country.
  2. Sign up and complete verification.
  3. Turn on authenticator-app 2FA, an anti-phishing code and a withdrawal whitelist.
  4. Make a small first deposit and a small test withdrawal before moving larger amounts.
  5. If you try copy trading, start with an amount you would be comfortable losing entirely.

Verdict

Bitget is a capable exchange for traders who value copy trading and derivatives, with transparent base fees and visible safety measures like proof of reserves. Its strengths are also its risks: leverage and copy trading can lose money fast. If it fits your needs and is available where you live, you can sign up through our link below.

FAQ

Is Bitget safe?

No exchange is risk-free. Bitget publishes proof of reserves and runs a protection fund, which are positive signals, but you still carry counterparty risk while funds sit on any exchange. Keep only what you're actively trading on the platform.

Can I use Bitget from the Gulf or the EU?

It depends on your specific country and Bitget's current terms, which change as regulation evolves. Check the list of restricted jurisdictions in Bitget's terms of use and your local rules before you deposit.

Does copy trading make money?

Sometimes, and sometimes it loses money. There are no guaranteed returns. Treat any leaderboard figure as history, not a forecast.
